Description: Want to brush up on the names and locations of the 50 or so countries of modern Africa? This program from the Family Games Web Center will help you. African Geography Tutor presents a scrolling map of Africa along with a list of countries. As your mouse pointer passes over the map, the country under the pointer highlights, along with its entry in the list. Simply browse the map until you feel ready, then try either of the two self-test modes. In Find Countries mode, you are asked to click a country on the map given its name. In Identify Countries mode, you are asked to click the name in the list corresponding to the country that is highlighted on the map. Both quizzes run through the entire list of 49 countries in random order. A running score is displayed. Any errors are highlighted in the country list for later review.

When the student completes ten problems they are rewarding with a silly animation using 3D graphics.The tutorial section helps the student learn where states are on a map and which capitals go with which states.The learn the states section lets the student see the state on the map and click on it's name, or click on a state when they are presented with the name. There are multiple levels of difficulty and the student can work using all the states or just western, central or eastern regions. As the mouse is rolled over the U.S. map the states highlight to aid in selection.The learn the capitals section lets the student see the state name and choose it's capital, see the capital name and choose it's state, or see a state on the map and click on the name of it's capital. The last option can be very difficult and is ideal for mastery skills. This section has 15 different learning variations. The capitals section of the program is available in the registered version of the program.

Description: With Country Locator you can scroll down a list of countries and select the one whose location you want to know. The 3D globe will then rotate and zoom-in and find the country ! Pretty soon you will be visualizing the location of all the countries of the world. You will notice the relative size of different countries. Of course, not every significant place is a country. Country Locator also know of 42 places around the world which are not countries, such as Puerto Rico, Tahiti, etc. which you will want to know. And no doubt you will want to use the program in "Locate" mode, which means that it is now up to you to locate the countries. The program will prompt you for a particular country and you must rotate the globe yourself and find that country. The program knows if you found it or not and adds it to a list - so that you can see for yourself what countries you have found - and for those countries which you just have no idea about, you can press the "Auto" locate button and the program will find it for you ! You will soon be visualizing 234 countries and places around the world - greatly increasing your geographical acumen. The flags of all the countries are presented as well. Also use the program to view the geographical landscape of the earth in three-dimensional form.
